What are the shipment details?
The shipment details are the basis for the automatic shipping date calculation in Crownbeam. Using these parameters, Crownbeam calculates backwards from the treatment date for every order to determine when the package must be dropped off at the latest. How the calculation works in detail is described in How dates are calculated in Crownbeam.
There are three parameters that you set once:
Drop-off Deadline — the latest time by which a package must be with the parcel service each day to meet the delivery guarantee (e.g. 4:00 pm).
Shipping days — how many days the package is in transit, excluding the drop-off and delivery day. For next-day delivery, enter 0.
Latest guaranteed delivery time — the latest time, determined by the parcel service, at which the package arrives at the recipient (e.g. 9:00 am).
Tip: You can get the exact values for these parameters from your shipping provider.
How to configure the shipment details
Open the Settings via the gear icon in the top right.
Under My Business, select Shipment Details.
Enable the Automatic calculation of the shipping date toggle if it isn’t active yet.
Enter the Drop-off Deadline.
Enter the Shipping days.
Enter the Latest guaranteed delivery time.
Click Save.
Non-working days such as public holidays or company holidays are entered separately under Settings → My Business → Opening Times. How to do this is described in Block deliveries on non-working days.
How does the delivery time affect the shipping date?
The latest guaranteed delivery time determines whether delivery must take place on the day of the treatment date or the day before:
If the treatment date is after the latest guaranteed delivery time, delivery can take place on the same day.
Example: treatment date 10:30 am, delivery time 9:00 am → delivery on the same day.
If the treatment date is before the latest guaranteed delivery time, delivery must take place the day before.
Example: treatment date 8:00 am, delivery time 9:00 am → delivery the day before.
FAQs
What do I enter for Shipping days if the package arrives the next day?
Enter 0. The Shipping days indicate the days between drop-off and delivery — excluding the drop-off day and the delivery day. For next-day delivery, that is 0 days in between.
What happens if automatic calculation is disabled?
Crownbeam then does not calculate a shipping date automatically. You can still enter shipping dates manually in each order — but automatic due-date indicators in the dashboard are no longer available.
What about orders that have multiple appointments?
For work that requires multiple treatment dates — such as full dentures, telescopic work, or crowns with a framework try-in — Crownbeam has appointment sequences. An appointment sequence defines the order of the appointments once, and Crownbeam calculates all dates automatically. More on this in Understanding appointment sequences.
