Overview
In this article, you'll learn how to set up the Medit integration in Crownbeam and choose which scan files should be downloaded.
Important: You need a Medit account to set up this integration.
How to set up the Medit integration
Open Settings using the gear icon in the top right corner.
On the left, under Integrations, click Medit.
Click Pair with Medit.
Sign in with your Medit account in the portal that opens and authorize access.
Under Scan File Type, select which Medit scan file types you want to sync with Crownbeam — options include OBJ, STL, or PLY
If needed, enable the Allow automatic assignment of scanner users checkbox.
Under How should scans from lab scanners be handled?, choose one of the options: Ignore, Always load into the inbox, or Treat like normal orders.
Success: When automatic assignment of scanner users is enabled, new scans are automatically assigned to the matching practice based on known scanner users and created directly as an order in Crownbeam. To use this, you also need to enable the Automatically assign in the future checkbox once per practice in the Inbox.
Note: You can disconnect the Medit integration at any time using the Disable Connection button. Use Delete user matchings to reset existing practice assignments.
FAQs
What happens after I click Pair with Medit?
This starts the connection to Medit. You then sign in with your Medit account and authorize access.
Which scan files can I sync from Medit?
In the Scan File Type field, you select the format you want — available options include OBJ, STL, or PLY.
What does automatic assignment of scanner users do?
When this checkbox is enabled, new scans are automatically assigned to the matching practice based on known scanner users and created as an order in Crownbeam. You also need to enable this in the Inbox using the Automatically assign in the future checkbox.
Do I need to delete the old assignments if I turn off automatic assignment of scanner users?
No, you don't. Existing matchings stay saved even after you disable the setting — no new ones are added. If you want to remove the saved matchings completely, use the Delete user matchings button in the integration settings.
Careful: The button deletes all saved mappings between scanner users and Crownbeam practices, not just a single one. After that, future scans have to be assigned manually in the Inbox again.
How do I disconnect from Medit?
Using the Disable Connection button in the Medit integration settings.
How long is my Medit connection valid?
Your connection to Medit is valid for 60 days. Crownbeam reminds you in good time before it expires. You can see the exact expiry date at any time at the top of the Medit settings.
What happens if my Medit connection expires?
If your connection to Medit expires, Crownbeam shows you a notification banner. Reconnect afterward so scans keep syncing.
