Overview
A document camera is a third way to record material batches in Crownbeam — alongside manual entry and smartphone scanning. You simply hold the QR code under the camera on your computer, and the material is added to the order.
The IPEVO P2V Ultra, for example, has proven itself — it's versatile for use in a dental lab. The camera needs to be connected to the computer via USB so Crownbeam can access it.
There are two ways to scan:
From within an order — when you already have an order open
From the home screen — when you scan the case sheet first, then the material
How to scan material from an open order
Open the order you want to add material to.
Scroll to the Material batch tracing section.
Click the scan icon on the right (next to the + icon).
Hold the material's QR code under the document camera.
As soon as the code is recognized, the material is added directly to the order.
Note: After a short refresh, the scanned material appears directly in the order's material batch tracing.
How to scan material from the home screen
This route is handy when you don't have an order open yet — you scan the case sheet first, so Crownbeam knows which order it is, and then the material.
On the home screen, click the scan icon in the top navigation bar, in the top right.
Hold the case sheet's QR code under the document camera, so Crownbeam opens the right order.
Then hold the material's QR code under the camera.
The material is added to the order.
Requirements
A document camera (e.g. IPEVO P2V Ultra) is connected to the computer via USB.
Crownbeam has access to the camera in the browser. If a permission prompt appears the first time, allow access permanently.

Which document cameras are supported?
Crownbeam works with any document camera that the browser recognizes as a webcam. The IPEVO P2V Ultra has proven itself in practice, since it's versatile for use in a dental lab — other USB document cameras work just as well.
What's different about the camera scan compared to the other routes?
With the camera scan, you hold the QR code under a camera that's permanently connected to the computer — you don't need to pick up a smartphone or type anything in manually.
Do I have to scan the case sheet before scanning material?
Only if you take the route via the home screen. If you already have the order open, you scan the material directly via the scan icon in Material batch tracing — the case sheet scan isn't needed in that case.
