Important: An existing user's email address can't be directly overwritten in Crownbeam. Instead, you create a new user with the new email address, activate that access, and then remove the old user.
How to change a user's email address
Open the Settings via the gear icon in the top right
Click My Business and then open the Team section
Click Create user
Enter the user's new email address
Click Create user again to send the invitation email
Assign admin rights to the new user if the previous user was also an admin
Tip: Log out of your account now, before continuing with activating the new user.
Open the activation email in the inbox of the new address and confirm the invitation.
Log in to Crownbeam with the new user.
Remove the old user via the corresponding button in the user list under Team.
FAQs
Can I edit the email address directly?
No. In Crownbeam, an existing user's email address can't be overwritten. Creating a new user is the only way.
Why do I need to log out in between?
Because you need to activate the invitation with the new user and then log in with the new access. If you're still logged in with the old user, error messages can occur.
I want to change the email address of a practice or a practitioner — is that possible?
That's a different process. The lab can change a practice's office email as long as the invitation hasn't been accepted yet. The lab can never change an individual practitioner's login email — that's always done by the practitioner themselves. More on this in Change the email address of a practice or a practitioner.
Can multiple team members use the same email address?
Yes, as a shared collective account: several technicians can share the same login and the same email address — although it then becomes harder to trace in the event protocol who did what individually. It's therefore best for each technician to have their own login, as long as each also uses their own device. More on both options — and how to add a team member without any email address at all — is in Add a team member.
Do I have to assign admin rights to the new user before deleting the old account?
Yes. You must assign admin rights already in step 6, right after creating the new user — before removing the old user. Only users with admin rights can assign admin rights in Crownbeam at all.
