Prerequisite: These steps apply to orders with an appointment sequence. The Planned Appointments block with the step list and the three-dot icon only exists there. In an order without a sequence you won't find that list. For what an appointment sequence is and how to set one up, see [Understanding appointment sequences] and [How to set up an appointment sequence].
How to insert a step
If a specific order needs an additional appointment — e.g. a second try-in or an adjustment:
Open the order via Home → click the order.
In the Dates block, click Planned appointments to expand the step list.
Click the three-dot icon on the step you want to insert after/before.
Select Insert below/above and choose the pool step you want.
The following appointments automatically shift forward/backward.
How to remove a step
Open the order via Home → click the order.
In the Dates block, click Planned appointments.
Click the three-dot icon on the step you want to remove.
Select Remove and confirm.
Important: You can't remove the first step of a sequence — it serves as the anchor appointment for all following steps.
FAQs
We sometimes need a second try-in — how do I model that?
The standard sequence only includes one try-in. If a specific order needs a second one, add it via Planned appointments → three-dot icon → Insert below. This way the try-in doesn't get a number suffix in the pool name, and you only insert it in the cases where it's actually needed.
Can the practice add steps too?
Yes — the practice can insert or remove steps via the three-dot icon next to a planned appointment, both when creating the order and in an order that's already underway.
What happens to the following appointments when I insert a step?
The subsequent appointments automatically shift forward and adjust to the intervals from the sequence. Weekends and public holidays are taken into account.
Can I rename the first step?
Yes — via the pencil icon next to the step name in the order. This is useful for placeholder sequences, where the steps are set up generically (Appointment 1, 2, 3) and only get a specific name for the concrete case.
